The other day a friend asked me: Can you look at the world as though you are seeing it for the first time, hearing its sounds and sensing its smells for the first time? Like the newborn opening up its five senses to its surroundings? Without searching for words in one language or the other to represent what you see, hear, smell, taste or experience by sense of touch so that you can store it up in your memory? Without naming anything to reduce the real into symbols? Allowing the whole of it to flood into you? Just try it. Its a wonderful experience.
Saw this post on one of the comments on my uncles poem. Find it perfect today, everyday...
Do you?
ReplyDeleteWhat was the note about something you had posted a few hours ago and, as it seems, deleted? I had a glimpse of it just now and it was gone.
yes I do this every now and then. Especially when I am listening to managers in meeting. A kind of silence creeps in from nowhere. Sometimes when I travel for an hour to reach office. The rigs passing by, the sound of horns all have a different meaning which is not of the nature of contempt. I learned this trick through my daughter. The way she follows the trail of a sound, or an ant, or a bus till it disappears into horizon. Its amazing to believe that she has no words when she looks at things. Its like a stone thrown into a placid river still you dont see any ripples.
ReplyDeleteAs for the comments.. I really dont recall what I did.. it was spontaneous..
